I took my 2 year old to my doctor wednesday because her pediatrician was on vacation. She was running over 101 fever and grabbing her throat telling me it hurt, a little cough and runny/congested nose. The congestion and cough were/are not much at all. The doctor said her throat looked red, irritated, and had a few yellow pus pockets on it. He put her on amoxicillin 2 x daily for 10 days. He did not swab her throat for strep, which I think her pediatrician would have done since she just had strep less than 1 month ago. We are on day 4 today of her meds and she's still running over a 101 fever, and has been spending most of the weekend in her daddy's lap not feeling well. The anitibiotics she's on will treat strep if she had it, but yet she doesn't seem to be a lot better. I am thinking of taking her to her pediatrician tomorrow because I don't know what else to do at this point. Shouldn't she be better by now with antibiotics?

The only time I used "because I said so" is when there wasn't time to explain but my kids always knew I would explain later. I don't believe a plain old "because I'm the Mom" or "because I said so" is fair at all and it doesn't teach the kids anything. If you look up the word "discipline" you'll find out it means to teach/learn. That's what parenting is all about-- teaching. To teach people to use good judgment themselves you have to be able to explain your decisions. At the same time I feel it is important to teach kids a respect for authority while caring about the details.

Hey ladies I am new here I have read many articles but never decided to join until now. Im looking for some type of explanation for my bodily changes. I took clomid this month on days 2-6. I think that in order to make your degree the most effective, you need a good plan for once you finish your degree. International business is a very broad topic, as it could mean many different things. I would recommend that if you do, make sure you have the language barrier figured out, and think about how you'll use the skills you learned in college to earn money. I think it's a good idea if you're planning on doing business in developing nations with a lot of money or potential : ie china, brazil or Japan. So take it all in stride.

Hi i just need a bit of advice regarding some plants i have recently bought. The plants in question are black eyed susan (Rudbeckia hirta i think) and Echinacea purpurea. They are planted in good soil that is well drained and they get full sun. Why won't my propane gas dryer ignite?

I recently converted my brand new gas dryer from natural gas to propane. I'm looking to run out of a 20 lbs propane tank. I'm using the same regulators as my propane gas grill. Did all the connections according to the manual, but now it won't fire. Yes, it's plugged into power, it spins, but no fire on the gas burner...WHY??? What am I missing. (to see if it was lighting or not I left the bottom opened). I tested all connection on my gas grill and it worked, but in the dryer it won't. This is a Maytag performance series we're talking about.

He is 13 years old and his mom got him a blackjack (samsung's version of a blackberry). My fiance and I got into a fight about it because she thinks that he is too spoiled and he shouldn't have that kind of phone. I told her that his mother got an upgrade and rebate that only put the phone cost at $50. Do you think my fiance is overreacting?

Whats wrong with me? sore throat...?

I had a cold for 2 to 3 days...i began to feel a lot better...then last night i had the worst sore throat ive ever had. i tried tea with honey, throat drops, ice cubes, gargling water with salt...and it didn't help at all. I have been really congested and having to blow my nose a lot. my head hurts and i'm kind of nauseous....what could this be?

A "friend" has changed for popularity; how do i best suggest he be true to himself again?

Last year I liked this really sweet, shy guy Lukas. He was always into soccer and over the summer he got really muscular from it. So now due to this change in looks he acts really vain, pervy, and otherwise a jerk. I go to a different school now but i saw him recently and was disgusted by his outward change in behavior! He's totally different! I really want to help him, but idk what's best for him and I don't know how to help him even if it is best for me to try to get him to stop acting for popularity(I've known him for long enough to know that he is indeed acting to gain friends and isn't really like this). I also owe him because he was kind to me and because of that also made me realize that I was being bigoted against him for supposedly being a bigot(stupid, I know. He's Austrian, and I had a thing against anyone German/Austrian/Japanese...)so I can't just let this go. My friends who still go to school with him don't put up with him so when they yell at him for being pervy he gets upset since he has a crush on one of them. She liked him back last year but hates him now because he treats her like a piece of meat if you get what I mean. He's still really sensitive and I think he's just acting like this to get popular, so I think there could still be hope. I don't want to make things worse! What should I do? I need to get him to act like himself again for his sake, the sake of his family, the sake of my friends and for my own sanity. btw, sorry this is so long-I ramble:)

Since when is it exciting news when Jessica Alba, Halley Berry, Nicole Richie, Tom Brady and other celebs think getting pregnant (=or in Tom's case, impregnating someone) without getting married is a good thing? Since when has the institution of marriage been replaced by openly sleeping around, shacking up and bearing illegitimate children? My friend fell off a chair today?

So today in art cl, my friend Tia (T-a) said "I'm gonna fall of my cahir on purpose. Then, I fell of my chair on purpose to be funny and she copied me. Then she started cryin' and yeah. I told our art teacher "Tia fell off a chair and now she's hurt." She said her knee hurt and that she couldn't bend it, and that she couldn't stand up but she wasn't crying anymore. I told her about the time i broke my finger. (Trying to tell her that i knew she was liying.) and she just smiled at me (She claimed that it was broken) then we got her up and she "faked a limp" i know it was fake because she went over to sharpen a pencil for me and walked to the sharpener with a sever limp and then on her way back it was magicaly gone, i think she forgot that her leg hurt because everyone was telling histarical jokes, what i want to know is why she lied to us. then i remined her and she pretended she did have a limp.... i don't get it.
