Why does it cost so much for a life changing things?

Do you know what i mean? If you have a problem with the way you look and are always being bullied by it and it makes your life a nightmare,why do they charge so much to fix the problem? Its as if they make the treatment expensive on purpose because they know out of your desperation that you will pay,but if your poor you have no options.
