What should I have done ?

There is a senior lady Mrs Jones about in her 70-80s who lives in my apt building well the one day two college girls came by who lived down the street. They said they had found my neighbor Mrs Jones's Social Secruity Check on the ground and they wanted to make sure she got her check back. Mrs Jones is a widow her husband died several years ago a her son who is in his 50-60s lives in the suburbs but he comes and checks on her several times a week. Also her granddaughter who is in her 20's lives with her the grandaughter has a baby. Should I have said something to the son the next time I saw him ? Should I have said something to the granddaughter ? Or both ?
